If you really want to hold a goose it is best to make friends with the animal first. Try to bring him/her a treat on a daily basis, like some bread, seeds, fruit or lettuce. At first, toss the food at the animal and let it eat it at will. The goose will interpret this move as a gesture in good faith.
Do this on a regular basis and even if you don't feed him everyday at least stop by and say hello to him. Let him get to know you and to understand that you are not a threat.
Eventually, he will come closer and closer to you everytime you feed him. And if you are really LUCKY he will come close enough to you that you can pet and maybe even hold him.
Now if you are attempting a rescue of a goose, it would be best if you contact your local wildlife rehabilitator on how to go about rescuing an injured animal.
Keep in mind, if at any time you attempt to chase or grab the goose, he will fight back. While he looks soft and cuddly, one bat of a goose wing can do a lot of harm and has on occassion broken a bone or two of an unknowing human being.
