Make sure that you have fresh fuel. Fuel that has been stored in the engine fuel tank for a long time can evaporate and the two-stroke oil makes it difficult to start the engine. Two stroke oil shortens the life of the unleaded fuel.

Also, check the fuel tank and carburettor for sludgey deposits if it has been stored over the winter with fuel in it. They can really jam up the works.

If the engine has been kept somewhere warm, then corrosion may have affected it. Cleaning and re-gapping the spark plug and contacts should get the spark back. Also clean the magneto and coil contacts.
