If the baby emu has a permanently splayed leg, then it has formed that way as a result of being sat on too hard, for too long, by the parent emu. There is nothing that can be done to correct this, but if the bird can still move around, it will learn to adapt.

How do you splint a baby chick's leg?

Here is a trick that sometimes works for chicks with splayed legs. If you need to splint a chicks legs because it has splayed legs ( not broken legs) all you need are 2 small bandaids. fold the cottony part of one bandaid around the shank of one leg with the sticky parts meeting in between the legs. Carefully position the legs so that they look normal. Then fold the cotton part of the other bandage around the shank of the other leg and stick the stick sides to the part of the other bandage. Your chick should still be able to stand up. You can remove the bandaids after 3 days to see what progress has been made. Reapply the bandages if it seems the legs are splaying again.
