Catherine gets rid of Rolf because when Rolf rides by the village he asks Catherine for directions manor, not knowing that the person he was speaking to was Catherine. Catherine tells Rolf that Catherine is lacking wits, has a stooped back and terrible pits on her face. Rolf gets put off by this comment so he leaves.
They met when her father was a knight and his father didn't get what he deserved from her grandfather (a nobleman) and so he pounded on their door until he finally let Catherine's father in (which took days) and when Catherine's mother saw that young knight, and their eyes met, they fell in love, they were wedded three days later.
