An Osprey is a fish eating eagle (by its nick name is "fish hawk" or "sea eagle"). It hovers above the water, find a prey with its sharp eye, tangle its feet low and dive to the prey with feet first. When it has a grasp, it struggles out of the water, then wiggles its body to preform a quick rough drying on its feather and find a place to enjoy the meal before someone tries to steal the prey.
The osprey feeds almost exclusively on live fish (sometimes died), by 1-3% it eats amphibians, small mammals and small birds. It might (so less) eat insects.
Probably fish.
Osprey
They don't have a symbiotic relationship ! Whilst the osprey would certainly eat the sparrow - they're not the ONLY food the osprey eats. The sparrow gets nothing from the osprey at all.
They can, where it is legal to do so. But they are not a huge food source
Well As Far as I know They eat fish but I'm not sure what else.
Besides being a fisher the Osprey is not above chewing on some convenient carcass if it happens upon on.
Well, the osprey eat fish from rivers, lakes, and seas. On a website I found, it says that in Scotland, the osprey mostly eat brown trout, rainbow trout, perch, and pikes. These fish are found in the freshwaters,or the rivers and lakes. Also, they eat flounder, sea trout, and further south, they will eat grey mullet in estuaries. Im just trying to find out if the osprey eat koi. If your trying to figure this out, then sorry,I dont know.
Yes. Ospreys will eat most any fish species.
Because fish provide the nutrients ospreys need.
It is very unlikely that an Osprey would kill and eat a cat. The Osprey only eats fish, so only has the talons and beak that are effective at killing and eating fish instead of larger mammals.
small rodents also small birds and insects
Bears, mink, otter, eagles, osprey, larger fish, man.
