A snowy owl, like al owls, has soft feathers for slow silent flight, forwards facing eyes for binocular vision and two dish shaped, feathered depressions round it eyes which are actually should channels for its ears. It has acute hearing and can hunt by sound at night. It has white plumage so that it blends in to its habitat (snow) in winter.
