The blue jay does not have as complicated a life cycle as most insects do. Instead, the blue jay's young hatch from eggs, and are more or less helpless and must be fed by their parents for some time before they become adults, which takes about 3 weeks. Once they are adults, they find their own food and eventually build their own nest for the next generation of blue jays to grow up in, beginning the life cycle again.
