Theoretically, a peregrine falcon, the fastest of the falcon genus, can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour in a dive. The fastest one has ever been actually measured, however, is about 87 miles per hour.i do agree but it has been a record that a golden eagle beated the flying record of the falcon and the flying record of the golden eagle was was 320 kmph.

The speed at which a falcon can fly depends greatly on the species. The fastest animal for example, is the Peregrine Falcon. It can fly at speeds of 55 mph horizontally, but when flying downwards they reach speeds of over 270 mph. This speed can not be match by any other animal in the world, be it on land, sea or sky. However this is only one falcon and the others species can not match their speed.

As for the Peregrine Falcon... It has been officially clocked at 242 MPH. Nat'l Geographic did a story on it. It happened at the California Hawking Meet in 2002 if I remember correctly. Thus making it the fastest animal in the world. I think her name was Frightfull.
