Hummingbirds regularly take nectar from very tall flowering trees and have been reported visiting feeders hung from balconies several stories high, so any height that you can reach will be fine. What's most important is being able to take the feeder down easily for regular cleaning and refilling (every two to five days, depending on the weather).
