I copy this from other people: The term animals can be applied to a number of life forms from krill to Blue Whaltes. Specific animal related death rates are occasionally developed for rare, endangered or "cute" critters, usually after an oil spill. The general animal deaths number has never been calculated
To calculate the number it would be necessary to determine:
• Number of animals of the species alive at any given time.
• Percentage attributable to pollution.
• This is far more than a life's work. Additionally, the data would be changing as fast as you could collect it. And this is precisely the problem with assesssment of the pollution of our oceans. Pollution is massive (consider the North Pacific Gyre), and there isn't a good way to "get a handle on it" in an attempt to affect changes. The problem is just "out there" and bringing it home takes massive effort.
In the specific case of oil spills it would also be necessary to know the number and location oil spills each year. Many jurisdictions do not require reporting, many spills are never identified and many purposeful discharges occur. This data would be as difficult to assemle as the number of animal death.
The new study estimates the total number of birds killed at between 90,000 and 270,000. About 30,000 sea birds killed by the oil and between 10 percent to 30 percent are dead.
No because when birds get oil in their feathers it could die.
Oil spills contaminate the sea and the fish die along with sea birds.
Yes and so would you. The reason most birds will die from oil contaminated water is from swimming in it and the feathers are normally an insulation for the bird and once oil sticks to the feathers the bird no longer has that insulation and some cases will drown.
The oil can get on sea life or birds and then the creatures will lick the oil on their bodies and they will die. the oil can fill sea life's ways of breathing causing them to die. It killed a lot of ppl:) especially animals
they will die cause oil will stick onto the feathers of birds unabling them to fly and the fishes will not have enough air.
birds turtles and many more
Over 1,000 birds each year die from smashing into windows
the effect of oil spills is that it kills animals .such as birds and it can harm humans
About 15 million birds die each year
about 1,000,000 each year
About 100000 birds die in the USA all over the world about a close to a million die in the whole world.
