Every year, more than 3 million birds get killed from wind turbines all around the world.

A study by Wallace P. Erickson, of Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc., using information from Wisconsin, USA, found the following results:

Percentage of annual birds killed, by source:

  • Collision with Wind Turbines: 0.1 - 0.2%
  • Collision with Communication towers: 2.5%
  • Pesticides: 7%
  • Vehicles: 7%
  • Collision and electrocution with high tension wires: 8%
  • Cats: 10%
  • Collision with buildings and windows: 55%
  • Other: 10%
