Lovebirds got their name from their tendency to form strong pair bonds. They can certainly form relationships with people. As pets, they live for about 15 years. During that time they can preen their human hosts, as they would a member of their own species. There are nine distinct species of lovebirds. Several have overlapping distributions in the wild. Hybridization between different species of lovebirds has been well-documented. I know of no reports of wild lovebirds forming pair bonds between themselves and non-lovebirds.
Yes
People who love each other. But of course lovebirds are also an adorable species of parrot....
Nope. They're similar, but budgerigars (often called parakeets in the US) and lovebirds are actually different birds. Budgies tend to be slightly bigger and often have stripes. Most lovebird species have a more pronounced beak than that of the budgies, as well. The coloration is different, as well. Do some image searches for lovebirds and budgies to see the difference.
In many species of lovebirds, it is generally the male that chirps more frequently and vocally than the female. Male lovebirds often use their chirping to attract mates and establish territory. However, the vocalization patterns can vary by species, and some females may also chirp, but typically not as much as their male counterparts.

Lovebirds typically weigh between 50 to 70 grams, depending on the species. The most common species, such as the Peach-faced Lovebird, generally fall within this weight range. Their small size and lightweight bodies make them popular as pets, known for their affectionate behavior and social nature.
