To become a falconer you have to go through many steps. First you have to become a apprentice, which you can become at 16. Apprenticeship takes at least 2 years of constant dedication to your bird. Since falconry is a serious commitment--some consider it a lifestyle--training almost invariably takes 7 years. So, at the very least, you can be an independent falconer at age 25.

21 to 24 minimum. As a protected animal, Federal and state laws are very strict. You will most likely not be able to get a license for a falcon until at least 3 years after you start working toward it. So, count on being 24 years old by the time you can get it, but, you can get started. Check on your state laws for qualifying - you have to be able to prove you are responsible and can propelry care for a bird of prey - NJ requires 2 years experience with a red-tailed hawk prior to allowing a falcon.
