Fieldfares (Turdus pilaris), which are actually large thrushes (as are the Redwing, Blackbird, and Mistle Thrush), have a very unique -- and unsettling -- way of defending their nests. The entire flock will group together to drive off a predator, by defecating on the intruder from above.

A bird feces are composed of both solid matter and urine, causing it to be at least semi-liquid in consistency.

The intruder's feathers can become so soaked with feces that the bird can no longer fly -- and the intruders often lose their ability to thermoregulate (the bird's ability to regulate its body heat by fluffing the feathers) as well, causing death, usually from cold.
