The logo was created to capitalize on the success of their name, Penguin Books. The penguin was chosen as a memorable and distinctive symbol for the brand due to its association with books and because penguins are well-liked animals that are also associated with intelligence and curiosity.
The logo featuring a penguin is associated with the Linux operating system, specifically its mascot named Tux. Tux is a chubby, cartoonish penguin that represents the Linux kernel and has become an iconic symbol of the open-source community. The choice of a penguin as the mascot was made by Linux creator Linus Torvalds, who has a fondness for the animal.

Type your answer here... well there are three logo's first one is a penguin holding a hockey stick with a scarf on, second is the penguin logo in the 1990's looks like a penguin head, and the latest one is the one on the jersys tht they wear today. (it's kinds hard to explain)
Tux does not correspond precisely to any real-world penguin species. Torvalds was inspired to have a penguin as a mascot after an attack by a Fairy Penguin. In appearance, Tux most closely resembles the Adelie Penguin.
