Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH.
"Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" was written by Robert C. O'Brien (a pen name of Robert Lesly Conly 1918-1973). This book was later reissued under a new title, "The Secret of NIMH" when the animated film of the same name was released. O'Brien's daughter, Jane Leslie Conly wrote two sequels, "Rasco and the Rats of NIMH" and "R-T, Margaret, and the Rats of NIMH."
They had developed a conscience when they were injected, and they felt guilty about stealing. (You spell her name Mrs. Frisbi not Mrs. Frisby) (SUBMITED BY MIKAYLA ANDERSON)
Dragon is so fierce because when she was little, she would pounce on mice, and rodents. thats how she got her name.
elsewhere on wikipedia, it says that her name was changed to avoid copyright infringement issues with the people who make frisbees. So that they couldn't get sued. Guess it worked. I never even noticed until I saw it on wikipedia.

"Miss Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" is by Robert Leslie Conly. Better known by his pen name, Robert C. O'Brien, Conly was born in 1918 and died in 1973 at age 55.Conly was the third of five children. During World War II, he was listed as 4-F largely because his sickliness as a child made him physically questionable. In 1951, having covered both national and city news, Conly began working as an editor and writer for National Geographic. That job was to take him around the world. Conly wrote four children's books under his "O'Brien" pen name: The Silver Crown (1968); Miss Frisby andthe Rats (1971); A Report From Group 17 (1972); and the posthumously published Z for Zacharia (1975)."Miss Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" received the 1972 Newbery Medal.
A major difference would be the involvement of magic (or the unknown) in the movie. In the book, Nicodemus wasn't a mystic, there was no magic stone, and the plan to move the cinder block goes without a hitch. Mrs. Frisby's name in the book was changed to Brisby, in order to avoid infringement suits from the toy Frizbee. The crow Jeremy has a much smaller role, only taking Mrs. Frisby to the owl when she saves his life. In the book, Nicodemus isn't killed. The movie's antagonist, Jenner, was already killed before the story takes place. He took several members of the rat tribe to a hardware store and was killed, their behavior tipping off NIMH where the others were at. The book does, however, leave it open to interpretation on if Justin was killed trying to get the last of the rats out before the poisoning.
