Cob is a term used to describe a type of horse that is small, usually of a stout build, with strong bones, large joints, and steady disposition. The term refers to a body type of horse rather than a specific breed A thoroughbred however is generally tall, anywhere between 15.2 and 17 hands. They have long, lean muscles that cover their straight necks and long legs. These are the horses you see in races like the Kentucky Derby.

A flock can refer to a group of certain animals that travels/feeds/lives together. Some more common animals that are referred to as flocks are birds, and smaller herded animals such as sheep and goats. A cob does not indicate a grouping, however, and is specifically referring to a stocky horse that is of the working horse variety.
