It's very difficult to tell if your bird is constipated. I would personally recommend that you offer your bird fruits (make sure your bird is not toxic to certain fruits) and this should help with his/her stool. If your still worried contact your avian vet.
If your child is constipated a change in diet might be required to help the issue. You can also give them a laxative but you should talk to your regular doctor first.

If your ferret is constipated you might try Cat laxative or hairball remedy, also white Vaseline. Canned pumpkin (not canned pumpkin pie) can also be used. Just be aware that constipation in ferrets may be caused by stomach blockage and may require surgery
The medication they give you during a colonoscopy can make you slightly constipated. Increasing your fiber should do the trick! You can either do this naturally by eating a lot of fruit or veggies, drinking prune juice or other thick juice; or you can take some of the OTC fiber supplements like Metamucil or Benefiber. I'd avoid a laxative unless you are constipated for several days.

If you puppy is having problems with bowel movement you need to contact your vet so you can get a laxative prescription. Be careful though because if the issue is due to blockage or obstruction a laxative could cause further damage.
To help a cow with constipation you can give the cow one or two teaspoons of mineral oil. This should be enough to help the cow.
