As long as you don't do anything to it that hurts or scares it, it will figure out that you are alright and can be trusted. After a while, you should be able to do pretty much what you want with it. My personal method is to do the things it really doesn't like doing. Laying on it's back, messing with it's feet. It learns that you are not trying to hurt it and it becomes play.
