Snowy Owls are diurnal which means they can see and are active both day and night unlike other owls. This is helpful because the Arctic is mostly daylight most of the day.

The eyes of a Snowy Owl does not move in its socket so it swivels its head around (up to 270 degrees) to see around it.

Since the Arctic can get as cold as negative 70 degrees, the Snowy Owls can maintain an internal temperature of 100- 104 degrees by their thick layer of down feathers.
