When can you tell what sex a budgie is?

The age you can tell when a budgie is a girl or boy is 6 to 5 months. In that timing the cere (the skin above the beak) will be a purple or pinkish colour. Then if a boy the cere will be blue, if a girl it will be beige or slight pink.

yes.....sort of...when your budgie is a baby its cere (the plate above its beak will be a pink/white and there is no way of telling there gender. But once they are 6 months old the cere will turn either blue or browny/pink/white if its blue its a boy and if brown its a girl. A budgies sex can be told by the cere(then part above the beak) if it is blue or a dark purple you have a boy budgie and if its cere is brown or pink its a girl. during the time of hatching a baby can not be sexed because it needs to grow up and full mature, in some cases the sex can not be told due to a disease that infects the cere.
