In the book To Kill A Mocking bird, there are a select few people who are subtly considered "mockingbirds". Atticus Finch speaks of Mockingbirds by saying (you don't shoot a mockingbird because..) "Well, I reckon because mockingbirds don't do anything but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat people's gardens, don't nest in the corncrib, they don't do one thing but just sing their hearts out for us." It's the people in the book that don't do anything to receive the bad treatment they get.
These people include:
Tom Robinson, Boo Radley, and (possibly) Mrs. Dubose.
