To determine the sex of parakeets, you typically look at their cere, which is the fleshy area above their beak. In many species, including budgerigars (common parakeets), males usually have a bright blue cere, while females have a brown or beige cere, especially when they are in breeding condition. However, coloration can vary, and younger birds may not show these traits clearly. It's best to consult with an avian veterinarian or an experienced breeder for accurate sexing.
You can find out the sex of a parakeet by looking at the band where the nostrils are. If they are blue or purple it is a male, if it is pink or white it is a female. This only works after 4 months.
white with some blue
The spot at the top of the beak called the cere is blue on the males.
well i have 2 keets myself and i myself isn't sure iwhich one it which. online it says that females have a tan or pink cere. and males have blue-purplish. but the owner i got them from says the pink is male and the blue is female i don't know which one is which yet. we will see if they mate That is incorrect males have blue and females have dark pink and a little brown in them. So your parakeet is a female.
the color of a parakeet barf are ussually green white gray white
A male parakeet has a blue nose above its beak.
a male parakeets cere is dark (dark purple blue ect.)
I would say that if the ceres are blue, it is a male. Does it still have stripes on it's head?
if you said brown cere that is a female
As long as your parakeet is older than 6 weeks you will be able to tell the gender of your parakeet by looking at the little ridge of skin above the beak. If the skin is darker (dark purple, blue, etc.) the parakeet is a male. If the skin is lighter (a lavander or white color, etc.), the parakeet is female.
basicly except 4 the fact they are different colors.
Parrots come in many colors. I bet if you looked hard enough you could find a purple tinted parakeet! I found mine at Petsmart.
