Because you'd throw up. Burping is the expulsion of air from your stomach - air normally sits at the top of your stomach because it's lighter than solids and liquids, BUT if you're upside down, then the solids and liquids will be at the 'top' of your stomach (nearest your head). When you 'burp' you actually force this gunk out instead - gr055.

Even a small burp from your esophagus will produce the same result as the swallowing of air will automaitcally cause your (upside down) lower esophageal sphincter to relax - yep, more puke.
