BRP(Bombardier Recreational Products) still makes the Jhonson line but the offerings under the Jhonson name have been reduced, They still make the larger horsepower and four stroke engines, but BRP has focused primarly on the Evinrude brand.

It is from 1972. They dont make them like that any more.

Inboard engines are quieter and are normally more powerful than outboard motors. Outboards are normally less exspensive and easier to maintain.
Outboard marine engines, vary in reliability based on how well you maintain them as well as how well they are built from the beginning. Spending more money usually provides a higher quality product but it all comes down to how well it is taken care of by the owner.
more than likely 50 to 1
4 stroke outboard motor engines are unlikely to be outlawed anytime in the near future. 2 stroke engines probably will be outlawed. 2 stroke engines pollute the atmosphere. 4 stroke engines are standard gasoline engines like are in automobiles. They will probably be required to get better pollution control equipment, which will be easy. They will probably be required to be made more efficient, which will not be quite as easy. They will probably not be outlawed.
50:1 oil mix is typical for outboard two-cycles. Some do a little more in the winter.
Combustion piston engines can have two different work cycles, 2-stroke and 4-stroke. 2-stroke tends to have a better power to weight ratio, but pollute more. A 4-stroke outboard is simply an outboard engine that works the same way as a car engine.
saltwater will corrode the aluminum and metal from an engine more than freshwater will. Therefore engines used in saltwater need sacrificial anodes to be the vulnerable part, thus protecting the engine.
Johnson 115's, model designation vlsif, were manufactored in 2001. As for value, I would wager to say 2500 to 3500, perhaps a bit more if in excellent condition and appearance.
