Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, the short answer is "NO". Having said that, I ALWAYS recommend a passport for travel outside the U.S. The reasoning is simple. Ever heard of Murphy's Law?
If you go without a passport, and no problems arise, you come home and all is well. If you catch a cold, or if you need to get home NOW because Mama got sick, or if you break your ankle getting back to the ship after a few drinks, or if you just look like someone else and are detained past the ship's sailing, how do you get home?
Odds are you will make it home eventually, although, you will hate the day you thought of leaving w/out that passport (or card). I will NOT be quick. It will NOT be fun. If you LOVE the government when you leave, you'll hate it before you get home! Of course, they're just doing their jobs, and, you were "WARNED" before you left the states.
The card is okay, but, the "passport" is internationally accepted as a form of ID for a few dollars more.
yes you do need a passport throghout the cruise, especially to get out of the Bahamas visitor center, but when you go back on the cruise they will give you a carnival card.
NO passport needed, as long as you return to the same port you left from. You may need your drivers license and/or a birth certificate to prove you're an American citizen.
yes
If you are 16 or older, the cost for a passport card is $30, and a book is $110. If you are under 16, the cost is $15 for a card and $80 for a book.
According to the U.S. State Department:The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.So if you are going to the Bahamas by boat, you can use a Passport Card, but not if you are flying.
yes or you can get the passport card that will let you get into the Bahamas
I have received both my passport book and card.
Yes, it is.
Yes, you can upgrade a passport card to a passport book by applying for a passport book renewal and paying the applicable fees.
A Canadian citizen with a green card can use their Canadian passport to exit the US and use their US green card to re-enter the US under the same status. Hope this helps.
Yes, the passport card is typically mailed separately from the passport book.
The passport card itself is the passport. However, it has its limitations in use as compared to the traditional book passport.
