Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare
unrestricted submarine warfare
Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare
Germany's return to unrestricted submarine warfare.
The Russian Revolution did not play a large part in the US government's decision to enter the War. The sinking of the Lusitannia, the Zimmerman Telegraph, unrestricted submarine warfare and propaganda played a much larger role in the decision.
in 1914 they entered the war because of propaganda, sinking of lusitania, submarine warfare etc
The Zimmermann Note, submarine warfare
it sunk by a torpedo from U-20, a submarine
A German U-boat had sunk the British passenger ship the Lusitania at great loss of life. Unrestricted submarine warfare was suspended following public outcry in the US, but was reinstated in 1917. This eventually led to the American declaration of war on Germany.
The United States entered World War I on April 6, 1917, when Congress declared war on Germany. This decision came after a series of provocations, including unrestricted submarine warfare and the Zimmerman Telegram, which prompted the U.S. to join the Allies in the conflict.
Submarine warfare was abhorrent in the US during WW1. The British sank US ships trying to enter blockaded German ports. The same is true of US ships trying to enter blockaded British ports. However the Germans use submarine warfare to sink a USS Lusitania. That was the tipping for the US. Prior to then we were not wanting to get into "entangling alliances.
From what I can see, Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare policy, and the sinking of two american ships without warning is what motivated America to go into the war. Once again this is from what I can see on google lol.
