I just changed the oil in my Mercury 60 hp 4 stroke and had very little clean up. I let the oil completely drain from the motor before I removed the filter and had No drips there either. Just over 30 minutes to change motor oil and lower unit oil. Total cost of $35.00 included quicksilver 25W40 quicksilver oil filter and quicksilver 80/90 gear oil. Take your time and save your money . No reason to pay a dealer $150 to $250. for this simple oil change. Charliestoybox
where is the drain oil plug on a 2010 9.9 mercury outboard motor
To change the oil in a 2007 60 hp FourStroke Mercury BigFoot outboard, start by warming up the engine briefly to thin the oil, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug located at the bottom of the lower unit and allow the old oil to fully drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug and use a pump to add new oil through the dipstick tube until it reaches the appropriate level on the dipstick. Finally, run the engine for a few minutes, check for leaks, and recheck the oil level, adding more if necessary.
