A boat with a 6hp outboard motor typically reaches speeds of around 10 to 15 miles per hour, depending on factors such as the boat's size, weight, design, and water conditions. Smaller, lighter boats can achieve higher speeds, while larger or heavily loaded boats may be slower. Additionally, the presence of factors like wind and currents can also affect the boat's overall speed.
My best guess would be about 5-8 mph

The sticker on the side of my 6hp two stroke Suzuki OB reads 100 to 1. Unsure of the year.

The correct plug gap for the 1971 model, 6hp Johnson outboard, is .030-.035 in. It requires a Champion J6J, or NGK B6S.
I once had a 6hp motor on a 10ft aluminum boat. It worked well with one man aboard, but had a hard time planing with two people in it. I would say on a lightweight boat of 8ft or less, it should work alright. You won"t be a speed demon, but it should work for a one man rig.
