Russian submarines are primarily built at several key shipyards, with the most notable being the Sevmash shipyard located in Severodvinsk, which specializes in nuclear submarines. Other significant facilities include the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg, known for conventional submarines, and the Rubin Design Bureau, which designs many of Russia's submarines. These shipyards play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding Russia's naval capabilities.
Only in Soviet Russia.
Not even close, US wins by a landslide. Russia has ONE active aircraft carrier! Compare that with our 10 (and 3 more in the works). Ships capable of firing guided missiles? US 81, Russia maybe 20 or so? Submarines is where they might beat us in numbers but there are serious doubts as to the condition of many of them.
The US, Russia, Great Britain, France, China and (recently) India have nuclear submarines.
As of my last update in October 2023, Russia has approximately 11 operational nuclear-powered submarines. This number includes several classes, such as the Borei and Delta IV submarines, which are capable of carrying ballistic missiles. The exact number may vary due to ongoing developments and maintenance in the Russian Navy.
The US Navy currently has 14 active duty Trident (Ohio Class) Ballistic Missile Submarines. They are scheduled for replacement beginning in 2028.
As of end of 2010, the Russian Navy included 12 strategic submarines of four different types. The submarines can carry 160 sea-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) that can carry 576 nuclear warheads.
Russia has 1,324 the united states has only 658.
China has been manufacturing their own submarines since the '70's, though they do also utilize boats they've bought from Russia.
From Wikipedia: Today, six countries deploy some form of nuclear-powered strategic submarines: the United States, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, People's Republic of China, and India Several other countries, including Argentina and Brazil, have ongoing projects in different phases to build nuclear-powered submarines.
