Converted, one HP is equivalent to about 746 watts. So, that would be 0.746 kilowatts. 200 HP would be 149200 watts, or 149.2 kilowatts. Motors above 100 HP are somewhere just above 92% efficient, on average. So, add the remaining 8% of energy lost to the 149.2 KW and you get about 161.14 KW. Electricity in eastern NC is 11 cents per kilowatt-hour. So, that means to run a 200 HP motor for one hour would cost you $17.72 per hour to run, give or take, not counting power factor.
