The 15HP Mariner outboard with the serial number OC263209 was produced in 1997. Mariner outboards are typically manufactured in Japan, as they are a brand associated with Yamaha Motors, which has facilities there. To confirm the exact age of your engine, it’s a good idea to cross-reference the serial number with specific production records from Mariner or Yamaha.
The last Mercury Mariner was produced in 2010. Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, ceased production of the Mariner brand when it discontinued its outboard motor line. The Mariner name was used for various outboard motors and the last of these models were phased out by that year.
