If you run aground with your outboard motor but are not taking on water, first ensure your boat is stable and assess the situation. Try to determine the depth of the water and the type of bottom (sand, mud, rock) before attempting to free the boat. You can gently shift weight to one side or use the motor in reverse to help dislodge it. If necessary, wait for a change in tide or seek assistance if you're unable to get free.
Raise the motor, get out and push the boat to deeper water.
