3.5 ac is air cooled (hence ac), except the exhaust outlet is water cooled by the prop forcing water up a tube, (just behind the prop) to cool the exhaust. This works ok whilst running, but obviously, when idling, no prop rotation means no water circulation, hence over heating occurs. To remedy this, just don't idle for too long.
I have an overheating problem with mine even when running. Haven't got to the cause of this yet, but am suspecting the water pipe is blocked or cracked. I will investigate in the next couple of weeks when I get back to my workshop.
