WAY TOO many vessels to list. Depending on where you are located, will depend on your guidelines, except for International rules. For International Rules you can refer to a book that covers "The Convention on the International Regulations for preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972" which is referred to as "72 COLREGS". If you are in the US there is a slightly different set of rules of "Inland Waters".
International
General
Part A-General
Rule 1
Application
(a) These rules shall apply to all vessels upon the high seas and in all waters connected therewith navigable by seagoing vessels
Inland
(a) These Rules apply to all vessels upon inland waters of the United States, and to vessels of the United States on the Canadian waters of the Great Lakes to the extent that there is no conflict with Canadian law.
SB-13 in the navigation rules what must the give-way boat do?
If you see green and white lights on a boat, it indicates that the vessel is approaching you from its starboard (right) side. You should give way to the boat and maintain a safe course to avoid a collision. Ensure you are aware of other navigation lights as well, as they provide additional information about the vessel's size and activity. Always prioritize safety and adhere to maritime navigation rules.
If you see a red and white light configuration on another boat at night, it indicates that the boat is likely a fishing vessel or a boat engaged in specific activities, as red lights typically indicate port (left) side navigation lights. The presence of white lights suggests it may be anchored or displaying all-around white lights. It's important to maintain a safe distance and be aware of your surroundings to avoid collisions. Always adhere to navigation rules when operating at night.
Any vessel over 7 meters is required to show Navigation lights between sunset to sunrise and in any times of restricted visibility. See Rule 20, Application. For a full list of Navigation Rules, see the link below.
