Back the trailer into the water until the last 2" of bunk boards are still out of the water. Get on pontoon boat and drive it toward the bunks board you can still see above the water, slowly. Even though you are going slow, you will still have enough momentum to overcome the drag of the bunk boards that are above the water. These will help hold the boat in place while you go to the front, if you don't have help, and connect the winch hook. If there is a lot of current you may need to leave the boat in forward gear, pushing it against the trailer, until the winch cable/strap is connected to the boat. Slowly pull the boat out of the water, checking as it come out to see if the boat is centered in the bunks. If it is not you may need to back it back into the water enough that the back end floats, so you can center it on the bunks.

What percent of trailer weight should be put on the tongue of a boat trailer?

The tongue weight of a boat trailer should typically be between 7% to 10% of the total trailer weight. This range ensures proper stability and handling while towing, preventing swaying and improving braking performance. It's important to adjust the load distribution accordingly to stay within this guideline for safe towing.

Can a pontoon boat go 80 miles an hour on water if you put a high speed motor on it?

While it's technically possible to equip a pontoon boat with a high-speed motor, reaching 80 miles an hour is highly unlikely due to the boat's design and weight. Pontoon boats are generally built for stability and comfort rather than speed, and their hull shape creates significant drag in the water. Even with a powerful engine, the limitations of the hull and safety concerns would typically prevent such high speeds. Most performance-oriented boats, like speedboats or racing boats, are designed specifically for high-speed travel.

Can you put a small outboard engine 2-8hp on a small plastic pontoon boat such as a pond prowler?

Yes, you can typically mount a small outboard engine, ranging from 2 to 8 horsepower, on a small plastic pontoon boat like a Pond Prowler, provided that the boat is designed for motorization and has a proper transom for engine attachment. It's important to ensure that the weight and power of the engine are appropriate for the boat's size and capacity to maintain stability and safety. Always consult the manufacturer's guidelines for maximum horsepower and weight limits before proceeding.

How fast will a fifty horsepower outboard motor go?

It mostly depends on the weight or displacement of the craft you put it on. Put it on a little 10 foot flat-bottomed speed boat, you might get 60mph. Put it on a 30 foot pontoon boat, you will do good to get 15mph. It also makes a huge difference what pitch propeller you install. You must match the pitch both to the HP of the motor as well as the size of the boat. Of course, the absolute fastest it will go is if you drop it out of an airplane. Then it will go around 220 mph!

Why do you put tires on boats?

Boats Are meant for water therefore they don't need tires Some people use tyres as fenders. In addition they are hung over the side to protect the boat from hitting the dock. There are also tires on the boat trailer.

What is the main function of a boats safety chains?

A boats safety chain is used to prevent accidents such as a boat slipping from its trailer. This can occur when the ratchet mechanism (used to act as a stopper on the winding crank) breaks. I've seen this happen once at my boatclub. A guy tried to put his boat down the ramp and didn't have his safety chain connected and his boat just slid off the trailer and onto the concrete ramp.
