If a motor or boat catches fire, immediately shut off the fuel supply and any electrical systems to prevent further ignition. Alert everyone on board and evacuate the vessel if it is safe to do so, using life jackets if necessary. Use a fire extinguisher specifically rated for marine use to attempt to put out the fire if it is small and manageable. If the fire escalates or cannot be contained, abandon the boat and call for emergency assistance.
