Lighten ship; people need to get off so that you don't damage the hull further. What did you run aground on, rocks or sand and dirt? If rocks, check immediately for leaks; you don't want to get back out into deep water and THEN sink. If it's a small boat, do you have a diving mask? Can you check the outside of the bottom of the boat and see if there's any damage?
In any event, you probably want to get back to port or the dock and do more thorough inspections there.
If your boat runs aground, check to see if anyone's hurt, and render assistance as necessary.
If your inboard outboard boat runs aground what action should you take?
You are lucky.
Make sure no one is injured and then checks for no leaks.
If your boat runs aground, check the safety of passengers, then check for leaks.
If a boat runs aground, the first step is to assess the situation and ensure the safety of all passengers. If the boat is stable, try to determine the depth of the water around the vessel. If conditions allow, shift weight to one side to help free the boat or use the engine to gently reverse, if possible. If the boat remains stuck, call for assistance or wait for the tide to rise, if applicable.
Turn the ignition off and hang on tight.
