My Husband bought a old Ted Williams outboard motor and needs to buy some carb parts since the float is sticking making the motor flood out. It is Old 7 HP the tag reads as:640-18 tecumser 7866973. We would like any information you have regarding this motor. Thank you for your time. Edie Harrington you should be able to get a parts diagram and parts from sears.com I have a 6hp. Ted Williams needing a water pump (impeller), I called Sears directly and they had NO parts or info about or any idea about Ted Williams motors. Eska made these engines sold by Sears so you will find lots of info on the web if you search for Eska. Tecumseh made the powerheads for Eska, and the carburetors were made by Tillotson. Boat Sport and Tackle will have what you need: But the carb is Tillotson as used on millions of lawn mowers, so you can get most of the carb parts from any small engine shop. The boat motor carbs have a little fuel pump on the side that the lawn mowers do not, so the pump parts will need to be ordered from the above vendor. There is a little red rubber bladder that is the part usually needed... known as the pump element. The usual problem with a sticking float is actually the needle and rubber seat. The seat is down in a bore, and easy to overlook. Use an 11/64" drill bit as a gauge to set the float height.
The Sears and Roebuck boat motor model number 217-586331 was manufactured by the company OMC (Outboard Marine Corporation). OMC produced various outboard motors for Sears under their brand, which were sold through Sears catalogs and retail stores. This model, like others from Sears, was part of their strategy to offer affordable boating options to consumers.
Chrysler made a model or two for them in the 70'sEska and Clinton also made motors under the Ted Williams name.
Essentially, it's worth only scrap value. Critical parts like the motor and blade are no longer available from Sears who sold it. It's a boat anchor now.:-)
About 400 lbs and 9.9 horsepower
The Sears model 581-51102-0 boat was manufactured in 1972. This model is part of Sears' lineup of boats produced during that era, typically associated with a variety of small watercraft. For specific details or parts, it's often helpful to consult Sears' archives or boating resources.
there isn't any water involed its an air cooled motor atleast mine is.
To determine the year of a Sears boat motor with the serial number 104710, you typically need to reference specific documentation or a database that correlates serial numbers with production years. Sears often used a coding system, but without that reference, it's difficult to pinpoint the exact year. Generally, older models can often be traced back to the 1970s or 1980s. If you have access to online forums or vintage motor guides, those can be helpful resources for more precise identification.
