There are three serial numbers on a Yamaha WaveRunner - a HIN number, an Engine and a Primary ID number. It is the latter that we use for general identification purposes and is stamped on a label attached inside the engine compartment.
To find the year of a Yamaha Waverunner, locate the HIN (Hull Identification Number) on the transom or the registration sticker. The HIN typically includes a four-character code that indicates the model year. For example, the 10th character of the HIN denotes the model year, with letters A through Z representing years from 1980 to 1999 and numbers 0 through 9 for 2000 to 2009. Additionally, you can check the owner's manual or Yamaha's official website for further details on your specific model.
