The thermostat on a 150 Mercury Black Max outboard motor is typically located on the cylinder head or the thermostat housing, which is usually situated near the top of the engine. To access it, you may need to remove the cover or housing that protects the thermostat. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions and diagrams for your model.
Just follow the large black hose coming from the top/side of the radiator to were it meets the block. The thermostat is located under the black hose engin side.Remove the clap and twist/pull off hose." note drain rad coolent level below the height of thermostat."
The thermostat is located in the radiator hose. Look for the black hose that runs under the ignition. Take the clamp out pull the hose out and there should be the thermostat.
there are 2 large black hoses that come off of your radiator. the one located higher on the radiator (upper radiator hose) goes from your radiator to the thermostat housing. the thermostat housing is a metal tube that is bolted to the engine. the thermostat is located inside of the housing and can be accessed by removing the bolts
The coolant temp sensor is threaded into the thermostat housing, and has one small female plug (black i think). It is just to the left of the air box. Very easy fix.
Thermostat is located on the transmission end of the intake manifold (left hand side) It is held with 3 bolts that are not easy to get to.(along with the thermostat itself) You will need to remove the black plastic tubing that runs from the air filter to the throttle body. Good luck!
To replace the thermostat, follow the return hose from the radiator to the black plastic encasement which witholds the thermostat. It is pretty tricky to unbolt it from the engine (there are two bolts, one visible and the other is underneath the plastic piece) but that is where the thermostat is located. Good luck
It is in the intake manifold near the thermostat housing. It is the one with the yellow and black wires.
The thermostat gasket for a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis is the standard "paper" type gasket, and a good RTV silicone is recommended. Permatex makes a sealant well-suited for the purpose - it's called "Water Pump and Thermostat Housing Sealant". You can also use similar sealants, such as Permatex Ultra Grey, Ultra Blue, or Ultra Black.
Follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine, there is a black water outlet, the thermostat is under that. Unfortunately, you'll probably need to remove the Alternator to get to it.
it's located on the right hand side of the engine unde the intake manifold and behind the alternator. there is a black plastic housing that does not appear to be large enough to hold the thermostat, but it is.
