When Jesus was finished speaking, he told Simon to go out to deeper water and cast his nets. Simon stated that they had fished all night long without catching any fish. But then Simon agreed saying,
"Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." (Luke5:5).
The nets were suddenly filled with fish and began to break. They signaled their partners in the other boat for help. They came and filled both boats that they began to sink.
"When Simon saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me Lord; I am a sinful man." (Luke 5:8).
Jesus replied in (Luke 5:10), "Don't be afraid: from now on, you will catch men".
Upon pulling the boats to shore, Peter and his partners left everything and followed Jesus.
When Jesus instructed the disciples to cast their nets on the other side, he said, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some fish."
The disciples woke Jesus from his sleep, when they were in the boat and astorm was in the sea.
The Bible does not mention how many were in the boat. Only Peter is specifically named.
actually it refers to the number of fish caught in the net when Jesus told Peter and the 6 other Disciples to throw the net over the Right side of the boat. When the came to Jesus and they brought the fish out they counted there were 153 fish.
When Jesus was sleeping on the boat during a storm, his disciples woke him up because they were afraid. Jesus then calmed the storm and the wind and waves obeyed him, showing his power over nature.
When the storm arose while Jesus and his disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee, Jesus was asleep in the boat. His disciples, fearing for their lives due to the violent winds and waves, woke him up, pleading for help. Jesus then calmed the storm by rebuking the wind and the sea, demonstrating his authority over nature and reassuring his disciples of their faith.
As followers of Jesus: He calls them to 'follow me' (Mark 1:17) They are portrayed as 'fishermen' because they will gather people into their community. In this respect, the boat became a symbol for the church, which is why the congregation sit in the part of a church called 'the nave' (Latin for boat) The word 'disciple' means 'kearner'. The disciples are, therefore, by definition those who learn (and learn from) the teachings and example of their 'rabbi' teacher, who is Jesus himself.
Small vessels operated on the Sea of Galilee but we have no description of them. Archaeologists have discovered ancient fishing boats in that area which measured nine meters in length, two and a half meters wide, and a little more than one meter high.
In the Bible story where Jesus calms the storm, there were twelve disciples present with him in the boat. The disciples were frightened as a great storm arose, and Jesus rebuked the winds and the waves, calming the sea. This story can be found in the New Testament in the book of Matthew, chapter 8, verses 23-27.
Jesus, here, clearly establishes His authority over all creation. The disciples were frightened in the tossing of the boat, but Jesus was calmly sleeping. How we would love to know the inner process and powers by which His word stilled the raging waters. What a rebuke to the disciples. Why are you afraid? Where is your Faith?
He told them to fish on the other side of the boat that they had had no success on and they became overloaded with fish when they followed his instructions.

This display of power showed the disciples Jesus's authority over nature. Feeding of the 5,000: Jesus miraculously fed a large crowd of 5,000 with just five loaves of bread and two fish. This event demonstrated Jesus's compassion for the hungry and his ability to provide abundantly even in times of scarcity. Walking on water: Jesus walked on water to meet his disciples who were in a boat struggling against the waves. Peter also briefly walked on water towards Jesus before losing faith and sinking. This miracle reinforced Jesus's divine nature and the importance of faith in following Him.
