"no the sx is a different hull than the older js series skis" NOT TRUE. The only thing different on a 550sx compared to the older JS550 is the pump and drive shaft. Then, after 1991, Kawasaki used a 550cc reed engine as opposed to the older piston port engine. THe ride plate, intake grate will work on both the 550sx and JS models. The hulls are the same. I personally have both models. I also have a 650sx, a 750sxi, a 300sx and a SXR800.
