You have to be careful when cleaning any lens of any camera. On the Canon 550d (T2i) the lens is adjustable and can be removed. By pressing the small button on the right hand side it will release the lens. If you get a micro fibre cloth or a clean rag/tissue just carefully wipe the dust off or any excess dirt. Don't use water or polish as it may ruin the lens. Go on eBay or Amazon and you can usually find cheap lens cleaner, that will work.
Any EF or EF-S lens will work with both the Canon 500D and 550D. So yes.
I actually recommend canon 6000 because it has so many things that is more and better than 550d

The 500D is the predecessor or earlier model to the 550D, but that same line is now up to the 650D, passing the 600D as well.

It is 129 x 98 x 62 mm (5.1 x 3.9 x 2.4 in) and weights 530g. I dont' think it fits in the "mini" category. Add to that lens dimensions and weight, battery weight.
