In order to copy, select the text with which you wish to do so by clicking with the mouse and dragging across it until you've selected everything you wish to copy. After this, press CONTROL+C. Then, go to the window in which you wish to paste the information and press CONTROL+V.

I don't understand how you've lost copy and paste, but if it's a windows computer then you should be able to use ctrl + c for copy and ctrl + v for paste. Hope this helps :)
