That really depends on the quality of your camera. Different cameras have different image quality, and as a result, different file extensions are used. Different file extensions mean different file sizes.
A high megapixel camera will typically have photos with a file size of 40-50MB. 1000 MB = 1 GB, so, assuming you are using a high megapixel camera, then you could hold around 320-400. The less the picture quality, the more photos you can hold.
