Maurice ("Maus") Gatsonides (1911-02-14-1998-11-29) was a Dutch rally driver and inventor. Gatsonides was born in Gombong on the island Java in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). He founded the company "Gatsometer BV" in 1958. Today, Gatsonides' fame largely results from inventing the Gatso speed camera, a speed measuring device used today by many police forces around the world to reliably catch drivers who are speeding. He originally invented the Gatso speed camera to measure his cornering speed in an attempt to improve his driving.

A Little Tip Most people think that if they cover there number plate with something, such as wax, the cameras will not be able to read there number plate. Well they are wrong!!! Both cameras have an infar red in them which means they can look through anything on your number plate and find your number plate. And you would probably get even more points on your license because covering your number plate with something is illegal!! So do not speed or run the red!!!! And also if you come to a red light jumper camera do not try to drive fast through a red light, because the Gatso can get your number plate from really far away!!! You would usually get a ticket from a red light jumper camera if you passed the line after about 1 or 2 seconds of the light being red!!!
