There is no real answer to that, in reality cameras have nothing to do with image quality, lenses do. A higher megapixel camera however will give you better images, as it will let you see greater detail (not always a good thing, higher mpx can mace chromatic aberrations in lenses more noticeable, and thus you will need to buy more expensive lenses to fix that, also at high iso, noise will be more noticeable and in greater quantities)
Of course there is. Go to a photography store and buy him a book for the camera that he has, and it will, step by step teach him how to use the camera that he has, and you will notice a great increase in the quality of pictures that he is taking. This is coming from personal experience.

Photography software is used for several things. The software allows you to easily convert your photography from your camera to your computer. From there, you will be able to use a plethora of different tools to enhance and fix your photos. This enables you to have quality pictures at all times when you use the right software to achieve the right effects. The camera you purchase should come with its own software, however, you can also buy it on its own.

The main differences between an SLR camera and a point-and-shoot camera are the level of control over settings, interchangeable lenses, and image quality. SLR cameras offer more manual control options and better image quality due to larger sensors and interchangeable lenses. Point-and-shoot cameras are more compact and easier to use but have limited manual controls and image quality. If you are looking for more control over your photography and higher image quality, an SLR camera would be more suitable for your needs. However, if you prefer a compact and easy-to-use camera for casual photography, a point-and-shoot camera may be a better choice.
