CA stands for chromatic aberration.

Chromatic aberration happens in the lens. The different wavelengths (colors) of light get spread out, sort of like a prism creating a rainbow.

CA is usually visible as a thin green line on one side of a subject and a thin magenta (red-purple) line on the other side.

CA also tends to reduce the overall sharpness of an image.
