A rack end is the part of a steering system (rack-and-pinion-steering) that connects a steering rack to the tie rod (track rod/connecting rod) which connects to the wheel. Once a Rack starts leaking it's time to replace it. A leaking rack & pinion system is usually caused by worn bushings that beat on the seals. If your Taurus Rack system lasted this long, consider yourself fortunate. Many don't last this long.
